Enjoy a new lease of life

If you have lost a tooth through an accident or disease you can replace them using Dental Implants. Watch this video now and see how implants can give you the quality of life you deserve.

Dental implants offer a permanent solution for your missing teeth.

A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. Often the implant can be placed at the same time as removal of the tooth, all on the same day.

If an implant has a screw-thread on its outer surface it can be screwed into position and if it does not, it is usually tapped into place. The main aim during installation of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into microscopic roughnesses on the implant surface.

In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures. Click here for illustrated information.

A Permanent Solution for Missing Teeth

At the City Dental Spa we offer a range of implant solutions that can accommodate patients individual financial or lifestyle needs. During our consultations we discuss the various options available to you and together we agree upon most suitable solution to meet your specific needs.

Be it a single implant or same day full arch restoration, we can use a variety of tooth materials for your choice of cost and convenience, from Composite, Acrylic to porcelain. We will have a treatment solution that is both kind on your pocket and your lifestyle requirements.

Implant Retained Dentures (secure, removable dentures)

Implant retained dentures are specialist dentures which are supported by 2 or 4 dental implants placed in the jaw. We can also provide a stand alone denture, or implants can be put in to support your existing denture.

These are a wonderful way of replacing all the teeth in upper/lower or both jaws.

For replacement of multiple teeth, Removable Implant Teeth (Implant-Dentures) represent an excellent option for comfort, appearance, function and cost:

  • They stay in place - When talking or eating they won’t move, you no longer have to worry about eating that Steak!
  • Comfortable in the mouth - The implant supports mean that they are much slimmer than dentures, leaving the palate clear in order that you can fully enjoy your food and not have the worry of any ‘denture-lisp’.
  • Easy to clean - Implant Retained Dentures are easily removed for cleaning and do not get much food trapped under them unlike conventional dentures.
  • Only removed for cleaning - No need for teeth in a glass by the side of the bed!

This technology transforms traditional dentures which are typically large, loose fitting and catch food, to a slim, snug fitting and firmly attached set of teeth that allow you to eat anything, be it a simple apple or a nice juicy steak and gives you the confidence that they will never slip out. This treatment is the most cost effective way of replacing large amounts of teeth.

  • Cheaper than implant bridges
  • Easier to clean than implant bridges
  • Half the price of implant bridges

Same Day Dental Implants - Achieve your perfect smile in a day

Until now, the only drawback to dental implants was the fact that the treatment could take several months to complete, but this is no longer the case thanks to revolutionary implant technology. Same day dental implants are fully and permanently attached in the space of a single visit to the clinic.

All on 4 Implants (permanently fixed dentures)

Sometimes, particularly when treating older patients, it becomes necessary to replace a full row, or even both rows, of teeth. In the past, this would have meant wearing dentures which limited the type of food you could eat, and which could become loose over time and shift in a manner liable to cause both embarrassment and discomfort. Now, however, you can have a full bridge of teeth permanently attached to four implants mounted in the jaw over the course of just one appointment. You’ll walk into the clinic unhappy with the state of your teeth and walk out with a brand new perfect smile and plenty to smile about.

Benefits of all on 4

The All on 4 system because of the advanced nature of the technology.

  • This system can support ‘immediate’ loading, so we can deliver, which is one of the most satisfying things for both patient and dentist!
  • There is often a reduced need for surgical interventions, for sinus lifts and bone grafting
  • Can be used with fixed or removable implant dentures

Choice of Material for your Replacement Teeth

All implant crowns can be made from a variety of materials to both create the smile your desire and suit your pocket. Ranging from Composite, Acrylic, Ceramic, Porcelain and Zirconia.

Implant Retained Dentures (secure, removable dentures)

Unlike the full arch fixed teeth, this cost effective option is popular with people looking to replace their current dentures. Implant based dentures are removable, and provide much needed stability.

Acrylic Full Arch Bridge (permanently fixed, implant based dentures) – ‘All on 4’

These are strong Titanium based Acrylic full arch replacement teeth.
Because they can be prepared in advance, it is entirely likely that the patient can leave with their final set of teeth on the same day

Porcelain Full Arch Bridge (permanently fixed, implant based dentures) – ‘All on 4’

These are metal based Porcelain full arch fixed teeth, for pure quality and strength. Unlike Acyrlic Teeth, Porcelain teeth, which are stronger, take longer, and will require temporary teeth and return visits.

NB: The difference in costs between the lower and the upper jaw is because we need to fit twice as many implants in the upper jaw. The bone isn’t as strong, and the denture needs extra support.

3D Imaging/Scanning

Here at the City Dental Spa we have invested in the latest state-of-the-art dental cone beam computerised tomography (CT) scanner 3D imaging. This has a multitude of clinical applications including dental implant planning, and assessment of wisdom tooth/impacted teeth, gum disease and root canal anatomy.

Our 3D scanner has the following benefits to you as our patients:

  • Multiple field of view - depending on clinical application can show the full jaws in one scan
  • Minimal radiation dose compared to hospital based scanning machines
  • Fast and convenient, in-house scanning
  • Enables efficient, safe implant planning, especially useful where bone availability is limited, with close proximity to nerve or sinus anatomy
  • Allows the highest standards in comprehensive diagnosis
What is 3D scanning?

It is a three dimensional x-ray showing height, width and depth of bone available.

Why is a normal dental x-ray not enough?

In some very simple cases a two dimensional x-ray may be satisfactory but two dimensional x-rays only show the height and width of the available bone, they do not show the width (thickness), so if there is a defect in the width of bone this will not be known and can lead to implant failure after a few years.

How does the procedure differ from a "normal" dental x-ray?

You wear a "radio-opaque guide" and have the scan taken (max time 20 seconds). The guide is very important as it allows the dentist to accurately plan the position of the implant. You should not have a scan carried out without an appropriate identification guide (exception: one or two teeth bounded by landmarks i.e. other teeth or fixed structures.)
